Founder, President, and Adoption Coordinator Jennifer Chau knew she wanted to start a rescue shelter the moment she moved back to Palacios. Jennifer has had 2 very important rescued dogs in her life; her black lab mix Lucky and her black mouth cur mix Stryker. Together, her two loves inspired her to start a shelter for large breed dogs to be placed in homes with enough space for the dogs to run, and enough space in the hearts of their humans to love them.
Here at Lucky Strykes Dog Rescue, we are a 501C3 dog rescue organization devoted to finding homes for large breed dogs (50lbs+) who have no where else to turn. We like to rescue dogs from euthanasia and give them their "Last Chance".We give them the care and attention they need before finding them a safe and secure forever home. We are very selective on the families we allow to adopt our dogs. Each family is carefully screened in order to make sure they are a perfect fit for their new life long best friend. Large breed dogs come to us from various situations: financial reasons, development of allergies, families moving away and unable to take the dog with them, and many more. Some dogs are found as strays with no identification to locate their original family. The reason a large breed dog comes to us is not as important as our mission to take care of large breed dogs. These dogs are often first to be put to sleep in shelters because medical treatment and food for large dogs is more expensive than for small dogs. We are not biased on which breeds we rescue, we take in whatever dog is looking to start a new journey in his life for his forever home. Although owning a large dog is not for everyone, large dogs have many unique and endearing qualities. The one thing they all have in common is the need of a warm, safe, loving home and a family of their own. We at Lucky Strykes Dog Rescue, believe the larger the dog, the more there is to love. They all need our help and we need yours.
